FMD (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) and HFMD (Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease) may have similar names, but they are two completely different diseases and have no connection with each other.

Who is affected?
It is a disease that affects animals only.
(e.g., cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep and pigs).
Virus :
It is caused by Aphthovirus.
Risk to Humans :
It does not normally spread
from infected animals to humans.
Major Symptoms :
Animals develop high fever,
blisters/vesicles in the mouth
and on the feet (hooves),
and excessive salivation.
HFMD (Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease)
Who is affected?
It primarily affects
young children,
especially those under 5–10 years of age.
Virus :
It is commonly caused by
Coxsackievirus A16.
Risk to Humans :
It is highly contagious among humans
and can spread from one child to another.
Major Symptoms :
Children develop red rashes or
painful blisters on the hands,
soles of the feet, and inside the mouth.
